Hello Introducing
ARTIST ROSANNE STEELE
Rosanne was born in Burnie, Tasmania and had always wanted to draw and be creative from an early age. She was born into a creative family and has taken after the artists who were on her mother's side. In fact, at the age of five she wanted be an artist but did not seriously take up art until she was twenty-five years of age. Rosanne is an accomplished artist and over the years she has turned her hand to many creative pursuits, including studying for a short period of time at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. She has also studied portraiture, calligraphy (with distinction), watercolour and related media, pastels and also watercolour and oils in both landscapes and portraiture.

Rosanne has also taught fine art in many different mediums; such as calligraphy, watercolour, oils and pastels. Until recently her main love and forte has been watercolours, mainly painting landscapes and flowers.
About Rosanne's love of Flowers

Flowers have always been a part of Rosanne's life growing up in Tasmania where cottage garden flowers are prevalent. One of her earliest memories is of her Grandmother's garden where they would wander together looking at the beautiful carnations.
In the home where she grew up, when she opened the front door to enter the house there invariably would be a large vase of whatever was in bloom at the time, be it lilacs, hydrangeas or a mixed bouquet of roses.

Rosanne had her own garden beds at an early age and along with her brother grew magnificent hollyhocks ranging from dark burgundy to yellows and pinks, the seeds given to them by an Aunt. Beauty, creativity and love of flowers have always been a part of Rosanne's life.

In the last few years, Rosanne has taken up painting flowers with acrylics, which was a medium she hadn't painted with before. She has found joy and fulfilment in the challenge of painting beautiful flowers with their subtle tones, complexity and vibrant colours.

Prior to living in Queensland, Australia, Rosanne lived for 20 years in Condobolin, New South Wales where she taught painting in various mediums and gained experience when she went out with other artists to paint plein-air landscapes around the Lachlan River and surrounding countryside.

Art Residency at Salon Rouge Gallery, Kapunda, SA

Rosanne received tuition from Artist Jacqueline Coates at a one week art residency in the Barossa Valley, South Australia in November 2016, painting florals. In March 2018, again in South Australia, she attended a week long Masterclass residency where she worked on defining her style and produced her series of beach scenes.

Rosanne Steele's life in Chinchilla

Rosanne now lives in Queensland, Australia and works at home in her studio in the town of Chinchilla which is in the country, 4 hours west of Brisbane.

Rosanne has received many accolades and awards for her artwork \ paintings, at local shows and exhibitions. She was awarded a prize for her flower paintings - "Pink Bud" and then again in 2017 second prize for "Stunning Hydrangeas", at the local council's Western Downs Regional Art Exhibitions in her area.
About Rosanne Steele as a person

Rosanne is a highly gifted and aesthetic artist and in regards to painting, she admits she is a perfectionist. This, of course is the reason her work is so beautiful and of such a high quality. One of her characteristics is that she is highly sensitive to the world around her and also to the realm of the spirit. This quality is now leading her to paint more ethereal things although the other subject matter of flowers, beaches and still-life will still be on her painting list.

In 2018, Rosanne started to expand her style to include studies of beach scenes and other subject matter with a more free style background but again using vibrant colours. Adding to her repertoire she is now pursuing some spiritual themes of which she is very passionate about and this really reflects in her artwork. You will appreciate this in her paintings the "Glory Eagle" and "Australia Arising".
