I originally saw this beautiful image of a vase of roses on my friend's Facebook page. She gave me permission to use the reference and the result was very pleasing especially the glass vase which looks so real. I added the pocket watch and petals as I was painting it to enter an exhibition which had a criteria about the meaning of life. It portrayed the beauty and flourishing of life with the fallen petals signifying that soon beauty will fade and the flowers will die. The gold watch speaks of the preciousness of life and how fleeting time it.
